Kitchen Update

Jordan has been working hard over the last few weeks, and I am LOVING the results.  First, he finished our kitchen island.  In addition to the extra work surface and functionality of this piece, it fits the decor of the kitchen perfectly.  I also love being able to use the cobalt blue basket that I found at Farm Chicks several years ago.  I wish that I could be there for this year's show!
Jordan also built me this amazing barn door to divide the kitchen from the family room.  I love the style, and the red color just makes this corner of the room pop.
Thanks Baby!

Great Catch

While Annabel and I were busy wreaking havoc in Bar Harbor/Acadia with the girls, Jordan and Thane enjoyed a much quieter (and arguably more productive) day at home.  They worked on the new porch a little in the morning, but then spent the rest of the beautiful spring day fishing.  It was a chilly day, and the fish just didn't seem to be biting.  That is until the boys made their way home to our little brook, where they finally caught some trout.
Thane's pretty pleased with himself and has been very quick to point out that HE caught the biggest fish (the 13" beauty above).  That fish was good eating.  We sure do hope his luck holds up.

Kindred Spirts

I have been blessed with many incredible friends during my lifetime, and the gals above are definitely some of the best.  We've lived and worked together, experienced major highs (marriages and babies) and supported each other through the lows (deaths, miscarriages and other drama).  Over the past twenty plus years we have lived in different states, coasts and even countries - but when we do manage to get together it's as if we were never apart.  These girls know me and definitely love me just as I am, warts and all!

It's hard to believe, but they drove more than 15 hours (each way!) to spend Friday night, Saturday and Sunday morning with us.  We were too busy gabbing to get much done, but we did manage to make our way to the gorgeous Acadia National Park.
The funny (or perhaps dangerous!) part of the weekend was to see how much these two peas in a pod enjoyed each other's company:
Penny's 9 year old Ellie and my 8 year old Annabel were joined at the hip the entire weekend.  They are definitely kindred spirits.  It's Friendship 2.0!

It's All about the Accessories

Annabel is really enjoying Josefina, the American Girl doll for which she saved many months.  Of course you just can't have the doll without all of the incredibly expensive accessories.  Or can you?  Once she discovered just how pricey some of these items can be, she got creative and made some things of her own in her Daddy's shop.

Here's a couch and table (with homemade bead fruit salad, no less):
She made this rather princess-like canopy bed, using the old newel posts from the old porch:
She even made pens for Josefina's various pets:
But my personal favorite is the 80's style lawn chair made of scrap 2x4's and strips of construction paper:
We can't wait to see what she'll come up with next.  That Josefina is a lucky doll!
