Yosemite Valley

Yesterday we traveled to the glorious Yosemite National Park. What an amazingly beautiful place.
Yosemite is the most frequented place in the National Park Service, with over 4 million visitors per year.  Many of them head straight for Yosemite Valley, which is not surprising given the beauty of this rugged spot.
One of our favorite places was the cool cairn village located just off the Lower Yosemite Falls trail.
The kids also appreciated the Indian Museum and village.  So little has changed here - it's easy to imagine Native Americans making a community here.  The community would have been centered around a long hut like the one pictured above made of tree bark.
We walked over 7 miles today, including a 2 mile hike to/from Mirror Lake where the kids got their feet wet in the refreshing water.  We are planning some more hikes tomorrow.
There is an Ansel Adams gallery in the park featuring some of his incredible photographs of the valley.  In honor of this great artist, here's a black and white version of a pic we took today.
