Monterey in the Great U.S. of A.

On Sunday Amanda graciously drove the kids and I down to Cannery Row in Monterey to see some of the sights.  We had a great time window shopping and enjoying the gorgeous sea view.  One store even sold Turkish Delight which, if you have ever read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, is supposed to be simply irresistible.  So of course we had to find out!  The kids liked it, although Annabel did think that it wasn't good enough to warrant a partnership with the White Witch.
Before we left, we were gifted with something very special.  Jon presented us with a framed flag that was flown over his base in Iraq last summer.  The flag was flown on the 4th of July, which makes it even more meaningful.
This will hang proudly in our new home in Wyoming, both as a reminder of our dear friends and of the sacrifices our armed forces make to keep our country free.  Our adventure around the country this summer has reminded us of just how great the U.S. is and how much it is worth fighting for, despite our growing differences.
