Kid's Bath Renovation

The kid's bathroom reveals one of the most dramatic changes in our home.  Last decorated in the 1970's, this was near the top of my priority list for renovations.  Here are some pics of the room when we bought the house:
This room also sported a cedar closet/water-less sauna/it's-anyone's-guess compartment:
On the other side of the tub unit/compartment, we needed space to install the master bath shower.  So Jordan gutted the bathroom, re-worked some plumbing and constructed some new walls:
The end result is smaller, but definitely lighter, more airy & refreshingly modern:

I especially love the towel hanger that Jordan made of recycled window molding from elsewhere in the house:
I'll post more house projects soon.  Until then, enjoy this beautiful summer weather!

For Better or For Worse

It's been a rough summer for Jordan's family.  First, our brother-in-law Aaron (married to Maile) endured a frightening attack of viral meningitis.  We are so grateful that he is on the mend, and life is slowly but surely getting back to normal for this sweet family.
Sadly, Jordan's other sister Abby was in a tragic accident last weekend.  While inner tubing, Buzz (as she is affectionately known to us) was run over by a jet ski.  Buzz is in rough shape, but we are so incredibly grateful for God's mercy, as her injuries could have been much worse - even fatal.  So many from around the globe have been praying for Abby, and we ask that you continue to do so as she recovers over the next few months.
Much, much love to the entire Lentz' clan in Colville.  We wish we could be there to help in some tangible way.  Know that you will all continue to be in our hearts, thoughts & prayers.

The Fourth of July - Downeast Style

The charming little fishing village of Cutler (approx. 15 miles up the coast) may be small, but it's big in its spirit of Independence - especially around the 4th.  This past Monday we joined a group of friends there to celebrate Downeast style.  Although we missed the parade, the kids managed to snag a coveted spot on one of the lobster boats for the annual races.
Mike Ferguson's boat, the "Tornado," came in 3rd, 2nd and then 1st in the races.  The kids were thrilled!
Not seasick in the least, the kids enjoyed a nice lunch and free popcorn in town.  They also participated in the gum chewing/bubble blowing and coke bottle drinking games.  Thane rode a train ride around town, while Annabel had her face painted.

We ended the day with a barbeque with our neighbors, and then watched the fireworks on a hill overlooking the picturesque Machias River.  Happy 4th!
