It's What Ails Us

Well, so far it's been a bit dreary at the farm this year.  Thanks to our friend, Mr. Flu, we've all been down for a couple weeks with fevers, coughs, runny noses, sinus congestion, etc., etc.  I'm happy to report, however, that things are looking up, and it appears that we are all getting a little better every day.  I'm told that there are about 100 different cold viruses floating around out there.  Yippee - one down...

I can't complain, as a routine cold is certainly nothing serious.  After all, we could be fighting something much more dangerous.  Take my friend Nate, who has been battling cancer since 1996.  Please keep Nate and his dear family (Jill & Grace) in your prayers as they recently got more bad news.  They are holding up well and truly are an inspiration to us all, but I suspect that Nate wouldn't mind a little respite from being inspirational and would settle for just plain old "not sick" for awhile.  They live in Maine and would be grateful for any prayers you'd send on his behalf.   Thanks!

Hope you are all staying healthy!

Glad you are all on the mend. Wayne and I both had the flu a couple of weeks ago. Didn't last very long thank goodness. Love all your pictures.

How did we come up with the name Thane Brogan? Well, Jordan was on a norse god kick, and our options (until a couple weeks before Thane's birth) were: Thor, Ragnar, Beowulf & Utrid. While these names may be fine in Scandinavia, I was pretty sure that our little guy would get picked on quite badly once he got to school. Thankfully, a friend who knew of my dilemma was on the lookout for cool names and she came upon Thane. "Thagn" is the old Scottish word for feudal lord. I believe that the name is derived from the Anglo-Saxon name for warrior.

As for Brogan, that was simply a name that we really liked. Since Brogan means sturdy shoe, Jordan felt that this would be more appropriate for a middle name.

At any rate, we'll give our lanky little guy another year or two to grow into his hefty name!
